Happy Labor Day and Thank You

Parents Coalition thanks all the hard working teachers, parents, and taxpayers and union members who work so hard throughout the year to support our fellow citizens and contribute to the quality of life we enjoy in this county. The first Labor Day was held on September 5, 1882, in New York City. This year the Town of Kensington is holding its own 43rd Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 6th.

Our grandparents, and great-grandparents fought and risked their lives for the working conditions we enjoy today; the 8-hour day; child labor laws; health and safety laws; and safe working conditions. According to the Department of Labor website,
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
