...First, the physical. Leadership means being a booster as well as a policymaker. For years, we've heard complaints about Starr's lack of interest in major extracurricular undertakings, be they championship games, the All-City Musical or service projects. He might have changed perceptions when, after five years of commuting, he moved his family here last summer. Unfortunately, this was his concession for the school board extending his contract a year when he still had two left on his current deal and, only six months prior, had been found kanoodling with the Milwaukee public school system in pursuit of their superintendent's job.
(Note to Starr's new bosses in Montgomery County, Md.: When exposed, Starr deigned he wasn't "interested in pursuing" the job -- after he had already been rejected -- and that "I remain deeply committed to the work we are doing in Stamford." Eighteen months later, his LinkedIn profile still notes he is "interested in career opportunities" among other "new ventures.")...
