Dedicated to improving responsiveness and performance of Montgomery County Public Schools
The coalition might be the best-known parent advocacy group in the region. Its members represent several constituencies, including parents of special education and gifted education students and fiscal watchdogs. The group's defining victory came this school year when the school system scaled back the fees charged to families for course materials.
Coalition leaders have drawn attention to the misuse of funds collected from students for activities, the broadcast of a commercial radio service on school buses and, with their "Weast Watch" blog, the travel habits of Weast and his lieutenants.

Tip: Include the word "minutes" in your search keywords to focus your search on BOE minutes. But note that the search function on the MCPS website has been broken by a redesign on the site by the MCPS Public Information Office. It is no longer possible to restrict your search to just Board of Education minutes.
I wonder if Mr. Social Justice Warrior will be willing to go to jail to preserve the current Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) system. After all, if he thinks it is the absolute best thing ever for students in Montgomery County....why then wouldn't he be willing to act like a social justice warrior and stand up for the PAR system that he claims he believes in so much?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe it really is about kowtowing to MCEA?
Would anyone care if Starr went to jail?
ReplyDeleteI'd care. Please take note that in his contract, even if he goes to jail he still gets paid, so he'd be in jail, not doing ANYTHING and be getting paid, and meanwhile, we'd have to find and pay someone else to do his job.
ReplyDeletei'd much rather he just do the right thing and amend the system instead of attempting to butt up against it.
Side Question: What's his job? What does he do? Watch his Twitter feed. There's nothing there that runs the school system. It's interviews, conferences, his book club, his TV show, and visiting schools. All PR stuff. What's to miss about a MCPS Superintendent when Larry Bowers runs the school system?
