Does Turnitin successfully catch plagiarism?

  1. Wow. That is a useless system. If a teacher can't look at what the system is calling out as being lifted from then what good is it?

  2. With three classes that require all graded assignments to be submitted through turnitin.com, I am sadly used to an inefficient system that has at times marked my every use of the words "the", "a", "an", and "they", as plagiarism. However, today, submitting a lab report, I found a new flaw - the system flagged several of my data strings (composed of the letters R, B, G, Y, and O) as similar to individual letters in a NASA document of instrument calibrations and settings - this is a truly a new low.
