  1. The good news is that the cost for outside counsel has decreased. Someone has finally been listening to the fact that the process was demeaning, costly and ineffective in many ways. The bad news is that Krew is still making a lot of money to wreck the lives of families of children with disabilities. Can you tell I am not a fan of Krew??

  3. Perfect! Let's hold a meeting at a time when no one who actually works for a living can attend. If the Maryland -- and Montgomery County -- government were interested in real transparency and #opengov they would hold meetings in the evenings and weekends. The real purpose of this Joint Committee meeting is to show how 'open and transparent' the state is while at the same time continuing to run the government as a private, cronyist organization. From MoCo: Kumar Barve, Heather Mizeur and Nancy King are on this committee. As a reminder, Maryland ranks 40th out of 50 states for risk of corruption, receiving a grade of D- from the Center for Public Integrity. And Maryland ranked 46th out of 50 for Public Access to Information. http://www.stateintegrity.org/maryland

  4. Perhaps our tax dollars helped pay for the old unpaid rent and the lien? http://www.btlg.us/z_archive/images/memorandum%20opinion%20and%20signed%20order%20072808.pdf

BTLG client wins appeal on contract interpretation

    Columbia, MD—September 6, 2008—

Fulton Restoration, LLC, filed a Complaint for Failure to Pay Rent against its tenant, Jeffrey A. Krew, LLC (“Krew”), in the District Court of Maryland for Howard County. At issue was whether Krew was obligated to pay certain charges pursuant to the lease between the parties. At the conclusion of trial, the court found that Krew did not owe any rent.

BTLG filed an appeal of on behalf of Fulton Restoration, LLC to the Circuit Court of Maryland for Howard County. The Circuit Court, in an opinion dated July 28, 2008, found that the trial court erred. The trial's court's finding of no rent due was clearly erroneous. The Circuit Court reversed the decision of the District Court and remanded the matter to the District Court for further proceedings.

  6. Thanks, Chris for this update. It is time that Krew "pays the price" for his nefarious style. I hope MCPS won't bail him out by allowing him to increase his bill by delaying due process appeals with his devious and distracting questioning of parents' witnesses.
