Another Room Service Charge for the Student BOE Member. This time $73.04.

Hey, you know, once you get one room service charge approved by MCPS, why not go for another?

The Board of Education took the student member of the Board to a conference in San Diego, California. Once again, we see Student Member of the Board of Education John Mannes ordering room service. This time for $73.04. It looks like this meal was just for one, but we know that at $9 a serving the Haagen-Dazs was yummy.

  1. Oh no, we are not sending students to conferences out of town at Marriott Marquis luxury hotels. The school district has to stop this nonsense now. Alnd why this child was allowed to get a room at the Washington Hilton for a local conference with room service for two people picked up at tax payer cost is outrageous. Who else was staying in the room with him that night? Did their parents know? Clearly it's acceptable to the school district to let these high school board members do whatever they want on these junkets. Where is the adult supervision?

  2. Was it part of the General Education requirements?

  3. So this high school student is allowed to check into a local hotel a day before the conference starts, have a guest in his room, for whom the tax payers bought dinner...and there is no adult supervision by the school district for this young man, who obviously needed it. And why he needed to stay at the San Diego Marriott Marquis ($$$$$) for another meeting when a Holiday Inn is one block away from the Marriott is beyond me. Why are we even sending this kid to conferences across the country? I say no to this wasteful spending.
