MCPS will not permit cell towers on top of schools

The things you learn when you read the fine print!

On page 5 (circle 19) of the special exception filed with the City of Rockville (see below) we learn that "the Board of Education of Montgomery County will not permit rooftop wireless communication facilities on their properties."

Now this is interesting because the Board of Education has never, ever discussed or voted on this.  Yet, somehow there is a prohibition on cell towers on school roofs.

  1. I'd like to know if the tower at Wheaton HS is going to be moved. It was on the far side of the football field. Away from people the majority of the time. But now that they are building the new school on the football field and now it sits smack dab right next to the school.

    1. No. Our information is that it will not be moved. The cell tower will be right next to the building. No one cares.

Wheaton parents and community are fine with this, right? Wait, does MCPS give a hoot what those parents think? No. They don't.
      BOE? Nope.

We know that this would not be tolerated at Wootton High School. Wootton parents didn't even want the cell tower on their football field.

This is why property values in the two communities will remain vastly different for the next 50 years at least.
