State Delegate Wants To Require Lessons about Affirmative Consent in County Classrooms: Kelly is offering legislation to expand curriculum for sex education classes

  1. The speaker refused to disclose which judges he feels are so inclined, so it is left to voters to research this, which I just did long enough to find an account from about 15 years ago, when the words of Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Durke Thompson were defended in a letter to the Gazette. Whether or not the judge's beliefs and actions are relevant now, they highlight the responsibility we have to be aware of how our oversight affects our children.

    1. I wonder how the judge would have acted if the 11-year-old girl was a relative?

  2. The letter from a defense attorney to the Gazette opines, "The difficult, ugly truth of this case, however, is that this 11-year-old girl did, in fact, consent to performing an oral sex act with this man." The letter acknowledges that there was a violation of the age of consent. So does this

about the difficulty that a young man had in determining the age of the teenage age sex partner he met at a hotel drinking party (who the court determined had displayed a sibling's driver's license).
