Video: Tower Committee Approves Cell Tower for School without BOE or PTSA Consent

Exclusive video of the January 4, 2017, Montgomery County Tower Committee meeting.

Watch as the Tower Committee approves a cell tower for the loading dock at Neeslville Middle School without the Board of Education (the land owner) ever discussing or approving of this major construction project, and without the approval of the current PTSA.

This is at least the 4th time that Verizon has attempted to put a cell tower at Neeslville Middle School.  Previous attempts have met with push back from the parent community.  This most recent Verizon proposal is new for the 2016-2017 school year and has been brought to the Tower Committee without the approval of the PTSA.  That is in direct violation of the MCPS policy on how cell tower proposals are to be handled at individual schools.

But, this is a high poverty school and we know how differently those schools are treated when it comes to cell tower proposals.  When Wootton HS and Whitman HS parents said no to cell towers the proposals went away.  When Neelsville MS said no, Verizon just kept coming back over and over and over and over again until the proposal was pushed through this time without notification to parents.
