This week, MCPS released its graduation dates and venues for most of its class of 2010. The majority of schools are opting to go back to DAR Constitution Hall, including those schools such as Magruder and Sherwood, that previously sited their ceremonies at Comcast.
If your school is not on the list - ask your principal. At least one school (Damascus) is still debating venues according to their website survey. Blair HS is still hoping for another alternative to DAR and hoping that another school will share the costs. However, given that the other large schools have chosen DAR, it seems as if the Blair students will either need to do some fancy fundraising or find a way to fit into DAR.

It would be interesting to hear the true cost. The figures I've heard are that the rental of DAR is $5700 and MCPS covers $5000 leaving the remaining $700 for the school to cover. However, according to additional data from my local school, last year Whitman paid $27K (most of it coming from families and fundraisers). Families then had to pay additionally for their own transportation. I am told most of the parking around DAR is $15-$18. Add parking and fuel and I estimate a final figure of $34K.
