Louisville Courier Journal: Weast Recommended for $5,000 A Day Consulting Gig

JCPS urged to hire $5,000-a-day expert to help turn around sagging test scores

Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday is urging Jefferson County Public Schools hire a district coach who would charge as much as $5,000 a day to help the district improve its math and reading scores and close achievement gaps among minority students.

Holliday has recommended to school board members that they hire outgoing Montgomery County, Md., Superintendent Jerry D. Weast, a nationally known educator who has won accolades for narrowing achievement gaps and focusing resources on low-income schools.
