Gazette: Farquhar parents, school officials hope land swap could mean students are not bused to North Bethesda
Parents and school officials seem to be in agreement on a new option that could keep William H. Farquhar Middle School students from being bused to North Bethesda while a new building is built.
The option includes swapping a parcel of land adjacent to the school site with the Farquhar property so a new school could be built nearby while students stayed on the property.
This is a great example of Montgomery County Public Schools working with parents to find middle ground. This land swap option, which swaps parkland next door to build a new school on, then turning the old school site back into parkland, is a win-win for all involved.
It took the parents a while to develop it, but MCPS was very responsive once it was determined to be feasible.
