Doesn't the public have a right to know what decisions are being made about MCPS facilities and programs?
From the Board of Education:
On July 7, 2011 the Board of Education met in Closed Session to discuss "...the use of a facility by the Community Montessori Charter School..."
On July 25, 2011 the Board of Education will discuss the Crossway charter school application behind closed doors prior to the start of the Board meeting and vote on the Crossway application.
Thanks Janis. In answer to your question, no the public does not have the right to know anything in Montgomery County. Where do you think you are? Egypt? Secretly most of us know that the BOE has been in talks for quite awhile about using and manipulating a 'catchment' area to make sure that Crossway staff can pick and choose the students. It is already gamed. It is a done deal and it is over. That is too bad from my POV, because for me, as a supporter of charter schools, to begin with one that does not comply with the law (let alone the 'spirit' of the law) means this will be what everyone has feared: a private school that is publicly funded.
