The Republican Vote in the BOE Primary Races

Board of Education elections in Montgomery County are non-partisan.  The candidates do not run as affiliates of any particular political party.
However, in past Board of Education elections the connection between the Democratic party and certain Board of Education candidates has been clear.  Literature endorsing certain candidates could be found on the Democratic table or being handed out by Democratic party representatives at polling locations.  In this election, Democratic elected officials were featured prominently in campaign literature for Jeanne Ellinport; and, on Saqib Ali and Rebecca Smondrowski's websites. 


In this week's Board of Education Primary election the Republican party was also making their preferences known.  
In the At Large Board of Education race, campaign literature for Lou August and Aryeh Shudofsky was found on the Republican party table and poll workers were actively promoting those candidates.
In the District 2 race, a Bethesda resident reports getting a robocall that said,  "Hi, my fellow Republican, this is Ken Smondrowski.  My wife Rebecca is running for Board of Education..."
