MCPS Student Report: Public School is Free in Maryland
This Whitman High School student news report was originally aired in 2009. We are re-posting this student news story as MCPS administrators continue to charge public school students to attend classes in violation of the Maryland Constitution.
MCPS administrators now specifically target music and arts classes, thus discouraging participation in these classes by creating a requirement of cash to participate.
As a reminder, the illegal course fees collected are not authorized by the Board of Education, or the Maryland State legislature. The illegal course fees are charged to students by the individual principals in their discretion. The Board of Education permits this illegal practice to continue by their silence.
They also target engineers. Because really, who needs engineers?
