Joshua Starr at the Gala 2013 (or, what he spends time doing instead of addressing the Rock Terrace issues)

  1. Imagination Stage is looking for $6,750 through the website to help fund field trips for 3,000 MCPS third graders at schools that serve low-income communities. Five dollars will fund the bus cost for one student.
Imagination Stage ultimately wants to introduce all MCPS third graders to theater through field trips. It’s hoping to raise a matching amount of $6,750 at its October gala to help fund the program for its spring 2014 production of “Cinderella: the Remix.”

So where does the $150,000 figure come from?

  2. Next year, Imagination Stage will begin the program by providing free tickets and transportation for 3,300 third grade students in the county's 27 Title I schools to see Cinderella: the Remix. The theater also will provide a pre-trip video study guide and a post-trip workshop, according to Imagination Stage.

The theater's Oct. 19 gala—"Stories Make the World Go 'Round"—raised $120,000 to start the program. A total of $150,000 is needed to fund the program's first phase, the theater reported.

    1. Agreed. Well, this is what you get when you only pay someone $250,000 per year, pay for outfitting their home office, and state in their contract they can have another job at the same time as they have the job of MCPS Superintendent.
