At the May 28, 2014, community meeting held to discuss the planned 110 foot tall cell phone tower for the playing fields of Magothy River and Severn River Middle Schools 70% of the community members in attendance at that meeting signed a Petition to OPPOSE the construction of this cell tower. 

Once again a Maryland community says no to a cell tower on a public school playground.

Subject: Stop the Cell Tower at Magothy River and Severn River Middle Schools!

To Anne Arundel County Board of Education members:

Our family opposes the 110' fake tree cellphone tower and 35'x75' fenced compound the Anne Arundel County Board of Education proposes to build on the sports playing fields of Magothy River and Severn River Middle Schools at 241 Peninsula Farm Road, Arnold, Maryland 21012.

Our concerns include: health and safety risks for children, adverse impact on the environment, changes to the landscape and view shed, and decreased property values.

We also oppose your initial decision to approve a telecommunications leasing agreement with Milestone Communications because it violates the spirit if not letter of county code, banning cell towers within a 200-foot perimeter of county schools.

We look forward to you withdrawing your support of this project.
