AA County BOE's "No Brainer" Cell Tower Deal - Wed. July 9th Meeting Discussion

On July 9, 2014, the Anne Arundel County Board of Education will "discuss" the placement of a cell tower on a middle school playground.

After that "discussion", Milestone Communications will sign as the owner of the property for a building permit.

Does Milestone Communications own the middle school site? No.

Will the Anne Arundel Board of Education vote to permit Milestone Communications to build on this middle school site? No. They will only "discuss" the project.  They will not take a vote and will not authorize the President to sign any building permit applications.

Is the community supportive of this construction? No, but who cares?

The cell tower will be built anyway because the Anne Arundel BOE and the Anne Arundel County Government will ignore the fact that the Anne Arundel Board of Education is the LEGAL owner of the land.

By not taking a vote to build this commercial structure on a public school playground the Anne Arundel County Board of Education will hide from any public scrutiny for their votes.

If the owner of property doesn't approve of construction can you build anyway?
You bet if you are in Maryland!

This in turn has led to a decrease in property values, anywhere from 2 to 20 percent.
“While I understand that companies want to provide good cell phone coverage,” said Claudia Haneberg, “I believe it is greedy and unreasonable to expect our community to accept a second cell phone tower only four miles from the one erected at Broadneck High School only six months ago.”...
