BOE President Vows Full Investigation into Child Porn incident #NOnotMCPS #neverMCPS
When the same thing happened in Montgomery County Public Schools there was no FBI tip line, no statements from the Board of Education, and no investigation. In fact, MCPS has disbanded their work group that had met a few times to shuffle papers around on this issue.
MoCo BOE must rely heavily on this ironclad background screening service: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/02/14/how-we-graded-states-teacher-background-checks/80214540/
MoCo BOE and MCPS are relying on keeping people ignorant and silent. They publicly state they are working to prevent abuse with their "overhauled, comprehensive" plan and yet, behind closed doors they have submitted testimony to the state legislator OPPOSING the bill to mandate child abuse prevention state wide.
See below: Testimony Submitted: Oppose (Previously Opposed) HB0072 Education - Sexual Abuse and Assault Awareness and Prevention Program - Development and Implementation Sponsor Delegate Luedtke, M. Washington, Ebersole, Hixson, and Kaiser Synopsis Requiring the State Board of Education and specified nonpublic schools to develop and implement a program of age-appropriate education relating to the awareness and prevention of sexual abuse and assault; requiring the specified program to be taught by a teacher who is trained to provide instruction on the awareness and prevention of sexual abuse and assault; requiring the specified program to be incorporated into the health curriculum of each county board of education and each nonpublic school; etc. Analysis MCPS currently provides instruction on sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention as outlined in the Board Approved Comprehensive Health Education Curriculum Framework through the Safety and Injury Prevention standard. However, it is imperative that Local Education Agencies (LEAs) have the ability to determine the curriculum needs of their system
