  1. What's even more disturbing is individuals with dubious titles of questionable value sugarcoating the matter.

  2. MCPS spokesperson said: "MCPS employees have done tremendous work during this period of remote work and telework is something that we will continue to offer even after the pandemic ends."

What a terrific way to cut costs! Information systems operations and management, purchasing, financial management, benefits administrators -- these office jobs can all be done by employees living in Western Maryland, Kansas, Nevada, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, etc. All that is needed is a good internet connection. Contract out the I/T help desk to India or the Philippines, where the cost of labor is super-low. MCPS already farms some work out to distant contractors so why not expand that approach? As with the private sector, employees and contractors living in lower cost areas can be paid much less. The savings should enable MCPS to hire more teachers and other professionals who actually work directly with students.

  3. Why stop with I/T, purchasing, etc? 1/3 of MCPS employees never get near students or schools so most of those jobs should be transitioned to remote in low-cost areas, with corresponding salary reductions.

Check out the MCPS org chart to see what jobs could be moved to other states or other countries.
