+ Case Rate Skyrocketed 14,200% over Winter Break @mcps @mocoboe

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) COVID-19 Dashboard showed 3,102 staff and student COVID-19 cases reported as of December 22, 2021. That was the total number of student and staff cases reported to date for this school year (Aug. 31 - Dec. 21). That means approximately 26 cases a day were being reported for that period. 

MCPS released a separate PDF showing just the COVID-19 positive cases that were reported during the winter break as of January 1, 2022.  The MCPS winter break COVID-19 positive chart showed 3,686 student and staff cases reported for just the 10 day winter break. 

There was a average of 369 COVID-19 positive cases a day reported to MCPS over the 10 day winter break.  

That is approximately a 14,200% increase in daily cases over winter break compared to the previous four months of school.
