Please see our previous extensive coverage of the arrest, conviction, vacated conviction, and re-trial of former MCPS elementary school teacher John Vigna. Recall that Mr. Vigna was never fired by the Montgomery County Board of Education and his teaching license was never revoked. He was allowed to retire and voluntarily surrender his teaching license. His original conviction was vacated and he was released from prison. A new trial on those charges has been scheduled for 2024. Now additional charges have been filed against Mr. Vigna.
New charges were filed against Mr. Vigna on November 30, 2023.

We posted detailed notes from the trial long before it was covered by the media. We stand squarely behind the brave children and women who have spoken up to report these crimes. We are horrified at the vast number of MCPS administrators who knew about allegations of abuse in this classroom and did nothing. We find it unconscionable that the Board of Education did not fire a teacher with a documented history of inappropriate physical contact with his students.

When can we class action sue MCPS for not firing convicter child abusers?
ReplyDeleteA class action suit will add 'insult to injury' because we the taxpayers will be paying for the damages. Holding individuals liable would be more prudent.
