As Superintendent Jerry Weast packs his bags for an April trip to Denver, Colorado on the taxpayer's dime, his public relations department puts out the following:

"Our hope is to avoid layoffs or a significant number of layoffs," Tofig said. "We understand the difficult position that the county is in, but the money clearly isn't here. We can't go any deeper."
Registration information for Superintendent Weast's Denver get away this month is here. Add in travel, hotel, meals and ground transportation for the total cost to taxpayers of this little jaunt in the middle of the county's financial melt down.

The Parents' Coalition blog would welcome Superintendent Jerry Weast's expense logs for this trip. We would be happy to make them public so that Montgomery County taxpayers can see how much this trip cost taxpayers and how the time away from MCPS was categorized.
