Subject: Important: Building Currently Being Cleared of Gas
A message from BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE HIGH
This morning our building
services staff arrived at the school to find a potent smell of gas.
They quickly determined that one of the valves in a science lab on the
2nd floor had been turned on. It is unclear
how long the valve has been on.
Currently, the windows and
doors are being opened to clear the school of gas, and no students and
staff are allowed in the building. Once maintenance clears us to go in,
school will resume as normal. There
has been considerable improvement in the air quality since the source
of the leak was quickly found and the windows were opened.
I am writing you so that
your children can be prepared to stand outside for a bit, particularly
if you are typically among the first to arrive at the school in the
morning.
