A student displayed a gun during an online classroom session held by an educator at Albert Einstein High School in suburban Maryland, officials said.
Montgomery County police and school system security staff were notified after the Friday incident, according to a letter from Einstein Principal Christine Handy.
“They have investigated the incident and determined that there is no imminent threat to school or student safety,” Handy said in the message. “I am deeply disappointed by this behavior.”
District officials are investigating whether the teacher knew about the gun being shown and how the teacher responded, said Derek Turner, a spokesman for the school system. School system officials think students may have posted photos or videos to social media, he said.
