At one of the work trailers at the MCPS Shady Grove Depot, the Google Earth image shows a small door opened under one of the work trailers and a person with multiple bowls.
The bowls are apparently to feed feral cats that are being kept under the trailers.
How many feral cats are being kept at the Shady Grove Depot?
Keep in mind that MCPS school bus doors do not lock. State law prohibited school bus doors from locking and so school buses are kept in gated depots.
However, the locked gates do not keep animals, including dozens of feral cats, from entering the school buses at night.
The next day, MCPS students use those same school buses.
Do cats have the dexterity to open bus doors?
ReplyDeleteYou don't know cats. Yes, they can push open bus doors. So can raccoons.
DeleteBefore you make a post about a situation you be sure to have all of the facts. What you have posted is so far from being factual. There several statements made here that are completely untrue. Are you an MCPS employee of that location? Do you realize the bus doors can be closed from the exterior of the bus so they can't be opened? Do also know that the animals in which you are reporting about have been unfairly removed? Do know anything about the feral cats at this location? They are apart of a TNR program that was taken care of by a private citizen. Be sure to report actual facts and the truth before spreading information. Not sure the point of your article in the first place it makes no sense unless you have all the proper information
ReplyDeleteFor years, Maryland law has not permitted school bus doors to be locked. It was a safety issue so children would not be locked on empty buses.
DeleteWhat Trap/Neuter/Release program provides for feral cats to be housed under MCPS office trailers. Cite your source.
Private citizen? This is Montgomery County property being used by Montgomery County Public Schools. This is not private property.
This is a public school bus depot with hundreds of employees. This is not a game reserve.
@3:23 PM is an anonymous comment, but it seems to confirm that the MCPS Shady Grove Depot is the home to a hoard of feral cats. The commenter seems to be arguing that the feral cats have a right to occupy the space under 3 office trailers, including the one used by bus drivers to eat their lunch. What health code supports cat feces, urine and carcasses under the floorboards of a trailer?
DeleteDo you work at this location? Are you and Mcps employee? Do you have mechanical knowledge of a school bus? I do 35 years worth of knowledge. A feral cat is not wild game. They are also up to date on vaccines. Ask me how I know. Once again do not spread info unless you have factual information
ReplyDeleteMaryland law is public information.
DeleteWhat do vaccinations have to do with feral cats living under a work trailer? They still have urine and feces. They still die. The space under these trailers is the equivalent of a litter box that is never cleaned.
If you would like people to contact you, post your name and contact number. If you think all the cats are vaccinated, then you must think you know how many feral cats are living under the floors. How many?
You have answered zero of my questions so what would make you think I have any desire to respond to any of your baseless claims. Wherever you are receiving your information its not a reliable source. Once you have correct info and it's true then post away
ReplyDeleteFeral cats living under work trailers are being fed as shown on Google Earth.
DeleteThat puts MCPS employees at work each day over "litter boxes" that are never cleaned.
That is a health hazard for the employees and everyone that enters those work trailers.
The MCPS Shady Grove Depot is a work place for humans.
The truth is that in the time I have been working at the depot, I have not heard of anyone being attacked by a wild cat or any diagnosis of any disease, such as Toxoplasmosis or another, or any unit damaged by felines.
ReplyDeleteWhich trailer do you work in?
