Casey Anderson Putting 3 Cell Tower Installations on Park Land
Correction to Parks Notice Below: One of the new cell tower projects is being put on an empty pole. It is the light pole on the Blair High School baseball field. It is not an existing cell tower, it is a light pole. Adding working cell tower equipment to a light pole is a new installation. But, as you will see below, Casey Anderson wants to trick the public by calling it a "colocation."
Parks, playgrounds and ballfields are not for children in Montgomery County.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please be advised that the Montgomery Planning Board Meeting to hear the applications on three telecommunication applications seeking to colocate equipment in existing park facilities to improve the wireless system in the Montgomery County area has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 16, 2017.
The public is encouraged to post comments on the Montgomery Parks.org Open Town Wall web page prior to the November 16, 2017 Planning Board date. Please share the following notice with resident and community groups.
Any questions, please contact the M-NCPPC Montgomery Parks Office of Public Affairs and Community Partnerships.
Exclusive: County Parks that Lost Funding to Pay for the Replacement Blair HS Artificial Turf
The artificial turf football field at Blair High School in Silver Spring failed. The Blair football field is on M-NCPPC (Montgomery Parks) property.
The artificial turf surface at Blair High School failed while under warranty from FieldTurf.
But, Montgomery County Parks did not replace the field under the warranty. Instead, they bought a new field from a different company.
Where did Montgomery County Parks get the $725,117 from to pay for this new artificial turf football field?
Everyone must already know the answer to this question because we live in award winning, transparent Montgomery County, right?
For those that do not already know how this replacement plastic field on top of stone was funded, here is the list of Montgomery County Park projects that were deemed "not politically sensitive" and the funding for these projects was deferred by Montgomery County Parks to pay for the new Blair High School plastic football field.
Was there any public notice or opportunity to comment for these communities?
6 rectangular field renovations (unknown locations)
Thanks to all those "not politically sensitive" communities, Blair High School has a brand new plastic football field! You are welcome to use it anytime! That is, anytime you pay the rental fee.
...Montgomery Parks to increase the amount of calories for 20-ounce drinks, from 250 calories to 290 calories.
An organization that wants healthier food more widely available in
government vending machines is faulting a proposal by the Montgomery
Parks to increase the amount of calories for 20-ounce drinks, from 250
calories to 290 calories.
“On the surface, it might be, ‘What’s the big deal?’” said Shawn McIntosh, executive director of Sugar Free Kids Maryland. “We’re just saying that’s enough sugar.”
In an email, Melissa Chotiner, media relations manager for Montgomery Parks, wrote in an email that the parks commission agreed to the change “to accommodate sports drinks in vending machines since we host many sporting events and have places where people engage in intense physical activity.”
Chotiner also said the change will support jobs in our communities that might be hurt by limiting the types of beverages to those with less than 250 calories.
The proposed change has not been approved and will be reviewed Wednesday, Chotiner wrote...
Why Johnny can't pee
Here is another cut that the county government must make to fund the bloated public school system which is not even a county government agency. The Montgomery County Parks Department has announced they are forced to close the port-a-johns in the County Parks. So, all you coaches, and moms and dads, make sure you have a place for Johnny and Suzie to pee, because it won’t be in a port-a-potty.
And be sure to drop a line to Board of Education president Pat O'Neill and to the County Council who approved the MCPS budget to say thanks. O'Neill's email address is here. Or, you can call her at 301-320-7600. As for the County Council, their email address is here. The President of the Council which approved the budget is Nancy Floreen. You can send an email to her directly here.
