Board of Education to Meet with Planning Board to Discuss Artificial Turf, Pedestrian Safety, Boundary Analysis #OffCamera #OpenMeeting

This is an Open Meeting of these two public bodies, however, the meeting will not be videotaped or live streamed.  The public is welcome to attend and film the meeting.  

Lunch will be served and paid for by taxpayers, but the public will not be permitted to eat the food.

MCPS bus attendant faces charges after deadly hit-and-run, police say #Onleave #NotFired

 - A bus attendant with Montgomery County Public Schools was arrested and charged after police say he struck and killed a woman with his vehicle in Manassas over the weekend.
Police say 29-year-old Muhammad Taha is facing second degree murder and hit and run charges after they say he intentionally struck 66-year-old Shamsa Begum on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. on Cloverhill Road.
Authorities say Taha fled and was later located and arrested by Prince William County Police at a 7-Eleven store on Dumfries Road. Begum was hospitalized in critical condition but later died from her injuries...

Bus driver mistakenly takes Rockville student with special needs to Baltimore

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. -- Montgomery Co. officials say a student with special needs from Montgomery Co. public schools ended up in Baltimore on Wednesday afternoon after a major mishap.
According to police, the Rockville High School student boarded his bus between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to be dropped off at his home in Silver Spring. However, for unknown reasons, the student never got off at his stop and the bus driver and bus aides continued their normal route to Baltimore where it usually drops off another student...

Special-needs student made drawing after bus driver allegedly molested her: ‘Tears coming from her eyes’

A longtime Montgomery County bus driver fondled a 12-year-old special needs student while the bus was stopped, detectives said in court records filed Monday, describing a case they put together in part after seeing a drawing the girl sketched after the alleged assault.
“Victim A then drew a picture of her and her bus driver,” the detectives wrote. “And in this picture, Victim A’s drawing of herself has tears coming from her eyes, and she stated that she was crying.”
The suspect, Etienne K. Kabongo, 62, of Gaithersburg, was arrested Sunday and charged with sex abuse of a minor, second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense...

Montgomery Co. bus driver charged with second-degree rape after sexually assaulting girl, police say

...Police said Kabongo assaulted the girl after an attendant left the bus to help drop off another student. A school bus camera captured video of the assault, police said.
In addition to the rape charge, Kabongo has been charged with third-degree sexual offense and the sexual abuse of a minor.
Kabongo was in court Monday and was ordered held without bond...

A Montgomery County Public Schools bus was involved in a pedestrian collision Tuesday afternoon which sent one woman to the hospital and closed northbound Rt. 27 for most of the evening rush hour.

MCPS Bus Slides Off Icy Road in Rockville

A Montgomery County school bus slid off an icy road in Rockville, Maryland, Tuesday morning. 
Police say the accident happened on Avery Road near Norbeck Road at 7:30 a.m.
