Mont. Co. Soccer Coach Charged With Human Trafficking, Prostitution

A Germantown man who runs a soccer academy in Montgomery County was charged this week with prostitution and human trafficking after an undercover sting at a suburban hotel.

Armand Theinkue Donfack, 35, trafficked a woman from France to work as an escort, advertised her services online and then took a portion of her earnings, according to prosecutors.

Donfack is a soccer coach and the owner of Champions Soccer Academy, which has played at Maryland Soccerplex and Discovery Sports Center...

WUSA9: 149 children rescued from human trafficking in nationwide operation

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- More than 140 children who were victims of human trafficking were recovered after a nationwide human trafficking operation, according to the FBI on Wednesday.
FBI agents and local law enforcement agents from across the country, including Alexandria, Va. found 149 underage trafficking victims and arrested 153 pimps last week and this past weekend during Operation Cross Country IX. The FBI and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children led the operation...

The coalition might be the best-known parent advocacy group in the region. Its members represent several constituencies, including parents of special education and gifted education students and fiscal watchdogs. The group's defining victory came this school year when the school system scaled back the fees charged to families for course materials.

Coalition leaders have drawn attention to the misuse of funds collected from students for activities, the broadcast of a commercial radio service on school buses and, with their "Weast Watch" blog, the travel habits of Weast and his lieutenants.
