What is lacking from the @mcps school, however, is an awareness campaign that educates students on fentanyl dangers, overdose statistics and the increased use of fentanyl in teenagers.

Quince Orchard High School Student Overdoses During Lunch Hour

This Tuesday, March 21, 2023, a Quince Orchard High student was found unconscious in McDonalds’ bathroom, during lunch hour, and was administered narcan by emergency personnel. For those that are not aware, narcan is used to reverse opioid overdose, restores breathing, and generally prevents overdose death.

As customary in these cases, a letter went out from the principal, describing the event and stating that counselors are available to students. What is lacking from the school, however, is an awareness campaign that educates students on fentanyl dangers, overdose statistics and the increased use of fentanyl in teenagers...

The school [BCC High School] failed to fulfill one of its basic duties: keeping parents in the loop about their child’s safety. @mcps @mocoboe

What We’ve Got Here is Failure to Communicate

That Tattler reporters set the narrative for parents and other news outlets alike is extraordinarily inappropriate. The school failed to fulfill one of its basic duties: keeping parents in the loop about their child’s safety.

...MCPS’s duties are shockingly opaque. A concerned parent or student cannot even access the “Principal’s Handbook” or their “Parent Involvement Toolkit” on the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) website. How are we supposed to understand if administrators are doing their jobs correctly if we don’t even know what they’re being instructed to do? B-CC administration can hold all the town halls it wants. The fact that these Potemkin villages pop up after every one of these incidents seems like a tacit acknowledgement of wrongdoing...

Students Rushed to Hospital After Being Discovered Unconscious in a B-CC Bathroom

Two B-CC students were found unconscious, allegedly due to alcohol abuse in the B2 bathroom, midway through first period today. A witness who wishes to remain anonymous was using the bathroom when they realized there were two students lying on the ground: “I saw two [students] on the floor clearly drunk, slurring their words.”

Another student who happened to be present shared that they were scared that their peers’ intoxication would cause a medical emergency and immediately started shouting for help. Passing security heard the students and rushed to their aid. An ambulance was immediately called, and after attending to the students, Dr. Mooney blocked off the hallways via an announcement. The students were transported to the hospital via an ambulance...

A majority of the overdose incidents that police have responded to have been at residences, Jones said, but there have been some at schools.
