Third-grader Lena Elamin, 8, does not intend to lose any of the reading skills she learned during the school year just because it is summer vacation.
She and her brother Mostafa, 4, were among the first students to arrive at Lois P. Rockwell Elementary School in Damascus when the school's summer library opened June 24, a week after school ended.
The library, actually a corner of the lobby with a table filled with books separated into reading levels, is a mainstay for many students...
