$37,544.64 to be exact.
That appears to be the "volume discount" that MCPS was given when they purchased the Walter Johnson High School football field artificial turf. The "volume discount" was based on MCPS agreeing to purchase 3 or more fields within 3 years.
There isn't a contract for the Walter Johnson artificial turf purchase, only an "authorization to proceed with work" letter and a proposal. See below.
We are hoping that MCPS' Public Relations office will put out a Fact Check on this information and explain the details. Based on the limited documentation available from MCPS, it appears that if MCPS doesn't purchase 2 more artificial turf football fields from the same vendor in the next 3 years they will owe an additional $37,544.64 on the Walter Johnson field.
We look forward to clarification on this issue from MCPS.
Artificial Turf Purchase Orders for Montgomery County Schools
A 4oz filter fabric for .33 cents a square foot it should only be around .05 and the turf should be in the 2.85 range. Just my first glance take it for what it s worth !
ReplyDeleteTake a second glance. What are you comparing? Other artificial turf products or other Field Turf installations?
ReplyDelete$5.15 psf for the turf?? Holy cow that's crazy! Fieldturf does these installs all day long for $4.15 psf for the same exact product ALL OVER the country. The base prep is also inflated by over $1 psf. MCPS just blew at least 180k here easy...
ReplyDelete@Turf Insider - Can you point us to another installation where we can see this price difference?
ReplyDeleteNot that it matters, here in Montgomery County we really like paying a premium for everything we buy ;)
