MCPS’s 2011-2012 budget is roughly$2.1 billion, which translates to about $14,000 for each of the county’s approximately 150,000 students......Don’t get me wrong, MCPS provides a great education. I’ve been going to the county public schools my whole life and wouldn’t have it any other way. But there’s always room for improvement, and despite cuts in funding of $1490 per pupil since 2009, the quality of education hasn’t gone down. This suggests that there are areas in which the schools can trim spending and still provide an effective education...article continues here.
