Starr's Hire is a Broad Academy Graduate

The Montgomery County Board of Education Appointed Dr. Kimberly Statham as Deputy Superintendent on Superintendent Joshua Starr's recommendation.  Ms. Statham is a graduate of the Broad Superintendent's Academy.  MCPS has sent a number of administrators to the Broad Superintendent's Academy over the last few years.

Maryland's new State Superintendent is also a Broad Academy graduate.

Here's a guide for parents to acquaint them with the academy.

The question I ask is why should Eli Broad and Bill Gates have more of a say as to what goes on in my child’s classroom than I do? ...

  1. This is the same Kimberly Statham who worked in Howard County a few years ago and resigned her position after several teachers at her daughters school reported her for badgering them to change her daughter's grades. After resigning her position, she moved to California, and now she's back again as our new deputy superintendent! In MCPS it pays to be a bully.

  2. Correction: it was an anonymous letter accusing Statham of pressuring a teacher to change her daughter's grade. The Superintendent of Howard County demoted Statham and another county official after an investigation of the charges brought forth in the anonymous letter. Later, after the superintendent resigned, the school board overturned his decision.

  3. A Howard County superintendent, retired, was one of the people faclitating some of the invited forums when the MCPS superintendent search was going on the other year, the consulting search firm was HYA. Is this the same superintendent?
