A fight at Northwood High School in Silver Spring Monday morning ended with one person in the hospital.
The fight broke out at around 11 a.m., said Capt. Paul Starks, a spokesman with Montgomery County police. He said that they did not know what kind of weapon caused the “puncture wound,” which was not life-threatening. The victim was transported to a local hospital, he said.
The victim was not cooperating, said Starks, adding that “There may have been an altercation last week and this may have been retaliation.”...article continues at link below.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 3rd District Investigative Section continue to investigate a stabbing that occurred this morning at Northwood High School. A suspect has been arrested in this incident.
This morning, at approximately 10:59 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to Northwood High School, located at 919 University Boulevard West in Silver Spring, for the report of a stabbing. Officers arrived to the scene and located a 15-year-old male student with a puncture wound to his upper leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers at the scene talked with witnesses and were able to develop a suspect description. Witnesses also observed the suspect leaving the school after the assault. Using this information, additional officers responded to the surrounding neighborhoods to look for the suspect.
With the assistance of school security, officers were able to develop the identity of the suspect. At approximately 12:10 p.m., the suspect was arrested by officers on school grounds as he was returning to the school. The suspect is an 18-year-old Northwood student.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was assaulted with a knife in a school hallway (near the cafeteria). Detectives are determining whether a knife recovered on school grounds is the knife used by the suspect in the assault. Events that may have precipitated this assault are still under investigation.
The suspect, who was transported to the Central Processing Unit, is identified as Chidat Tarawally, age 18, of the 12500 block of Winexburg Manor Drive in Silver Spring. Tarawally is being charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, and applicable possessing a weapon on school property charges. A photo is not available at this time and will not be available until mid-day tomorrow.
“Bringing a weapon to school almost always leads to suspension, and can lead to expulsion,” Tofig said.
