The Parents' Coalition has obtained a copy of the Statement of Charges that were filed on May 2, 2013, in the State of Maryland vs. Joynes, Lawrence Wesley matter.
[Please note that while this Statement of Charges was filed on May 2, 2013, and the documents have been part of the public record for three months, Montgomery County Public Schools has made no mention of these charges, nor sought to notify parents of these charges. It was not until this week that the May 2, 2013, charges were reported on by the media.]
The May 2, 2013, Statement of Charges alleges child abuse by a custodian, rape-2nd degree-under age victim, sex offense second degree, and sex offense third degree.
Some of what is included in the Application for Statement of Charges:
- The incidents alleged occurred from 1991-1993
- The victim was a magnet student at Eastern Middle School in Silver Spring
- The victim spent a lot of time after school hours, as she was involved in musicals and other activities
- Joynes reinforced the victim was not to tell anyone
- "At some point, the principal ... confronted the victim about her relations with Joynes."
Is anyone really surprised, given that Daniel Picca was left to practice his smarmy behavior in MCPS for TWENTY YEARS???!
