Einstein HS teacher Richard Shemer agrees to guilty plea in sex abuse case
Teacher scheduled to go before a judge March 20
A former Montgomery County social studies teacher has agreed to plead guilty to sexually abusing a former student, according to records filed in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
Richard B. Shemer, 50, of Potomac is scheduled to make the plea before a judge on March 20, court documents show.
Shemer had taught at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington since 2010 and had worked for Montgomery County Public Schools since 2002, a school district spokesman told The Gazette in October.
Shemer is no longer employed by MCPS, spokesman Dana Tofig told The Gazette in an email.
Shemer was arrested Oct. 2, after a student’s mother discovered an email exchange between him and her daughter.
Shemer developed a “close relationship” with the girl during the school year, according to court records. They communicated via email, with Shemer using both his school and personal email accounts to correspond with her. He asked the girl to send him a graphic photo...

In other words, if the alleged perpetrator did not agree then there would not have been a sex abuse case!
ReplyDeleteNo, there would have been a trial. The State was prepared to take this to trial. At the plea agreement hearing the State will present their case to show what they were prepared to prove.
