Roberto Clemente Middle School
18808 Waring Station Rd
Germantown, MD 20874
This evening, the Clemente Middle
School administration and Montgomery County Public School staff will
meet with parents in the school's cafeteria and reveal the plans for a cell tower on the Clemente Middle School playground.
Montgomery County Public Schools will be bringing in Trinity Church to speak to parents about the cell tower on their property
in an apparent attempt to convince Clemente Middle School parents to
approve the construction of a cell tower on the Clemente Middle School
playground.
The Maryland Coalition to Halt Cell Towers at Schools is raising the following concerns about cell tower construction projects at Maryland schools:
- Lack of transparency and community involvement in the decision making process.
- Safety Issues from the industrial machinery: fires, tower collapse, and worker accidents.
- Environmental Issues such as paving over green space and cutting down trees.
- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) such as diesel fuel and lead acid batteries on school grounds.
- Increased carcinogenic air pollution: Diesel generator exhaust and biocides.
- Health issues related to daily long term exposure to microwave radiation.
The
Maryland Coalition believes that cell towers are a bad investment for
our children. We call for an immediate halt to cell tower construction
at Maryland schools.

I would like to know how much money the church is getting for their cell tower.
ReplyDeleteWonder how much they are getting for showing up this evening and trying to convince MCPS parents to put a cell tower on the Clemente Middle School playground.
DeleteCell tower vendors can, and do, hand out the perks.
Wow, I guess MCPS and RCMS are just in it for the money, oops I mean, to help fund our students education (right!).
ReplyDeleteFact: Not one penny of any $$ received goes to teacher salaries, building classrooms, or textbooks.
DeleteThe $$ can be used to buy smart phones, lunches, dinners and retreats for administrators.
