The Montgomery County Board of Education is “meeting expectations” in
seven categories including “responsible management of resources” and
“community engagement and communication”, according to a self-evaluation
published by the board Wednesday.
When the Board of Education hired Superintendent Dr. Joshua Starr in
2011, the Board committed to a system of shared governance with the
superintendent. As part of his contract, an annual evaluation of the
superintendent and a self-evaluation of the Board is required, according
to the MCPS website. The Board has since done three self-evaluations to
coincide with the superintendent’s evaluation cycles.
