afford the computers and delayed the second phase of a major technology
initiative that ranks among the nation’s largest school laptop

Let's hope that they come with Energizer Batteries!
ReplyDeleteLarry Bowers "found" $6,000,000 for toys but nothing for additional teachers? That money could have brought in 85 more teachers.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone in MCPS found money for the erasers that Ms. C. needs?
ReplyDeleteThe parents at Westland were never asked if they wanted the PTA to buy chromebooks. MCPS asked the PTA to make the purchase. There was not a single e-mail from the parent community in support of the idea of spending PTA funds when Chromebooks were discussed last Spring.
ReplyDeleteHow many is "at least one"? The original e-mail from the PTA informed parents that at least two carts will be purchased.
It is also encouraging to see that even the County PTA is not in favor. They should be more outspoken about their concerns.
The parents were asked, last year, when they voted for these Board of Education members. This is what they want.
Deletevery sad for the kids, more chromebooks means more screen time for kids and more exposure to industrial strength radiation at school. the wireless environment is much stronger and denser at school than what would be used in a home environment or out and about. i hope parents wake up soon and start understanding that wireless internet access at MCPS is not safe for children and demand wired internet access or for the wireless to be turned off when not in use. these are steps that have been taken around the world to protect children. as we ramp up in the US, other counties are protecting their children, especially at school. being in compliance with FCC guidelines is not an assurance of safety, there is a biological impact at just a tiny fraction of the FCC limit. No one is protecting the kids, they are basically lab rats.
