Wheaton Library scheduling mixup frustrates library users
"This has been going on too long. Every time we get an inch closer,
we're pushed back a mile. It's just ridiculous that this has taken
place, and it would not happen in other communities. It would not happen
in Potomac, it would not happen in Bethesda, and it would not happen in
Chevy Chase."
The old Olney branch of the library was closed in December of 2010. Construction begin January of 2012. The community waited over a year while the perfectly usable library just sat there, unused. The library finally reopened in April 2014. It took 3 years and 4 months to renovate (not entirely rebuild) the Olney branch of library.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the Wheaton library reopen? If the renovation of the Olney branch of the library and the construction of the Silver Spring Transit Center are any indication -- plan on sometime in 2019.
Has Ike Leggett ever been at a branch of the Montgomery County Public Library, other than at a ribbon cutting? Does Leggett read or borrow library books?
Ike doesn't have a library card.

Reading a book is lame
Casual and mundane.
"The problem, the Montgomery County Board of Elections had previously booked the ballroom as a primary and general election polling place."
ReplyDeleteSo move the general election polling place to somewhere else nearby. Use the Wheaton Regional Park party room, which is very close. Or to a nearby church or public school. Provide a free shuttle bus from the fire station to the alternate location -- it can't cost that much for just one day.
You mean Wheaton has a library?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they could build a temporary library in a parking lot somewhere....
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to portable classrooms they pop up and multiply like rabbits.
