HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WBFF) — Salem Avenue Elementary is the poorest school in Washington County, Maryland, and one of the poorest in the entire state. Yet, it’s rated among Maryland’s best schools. Project Baltimore learned there’s a reason.
After 11 years, it’s become a tradition in this Hagerstown community. One week before the start of school, equipped with maps and class lists, teachers from Salem Avenue Elementary hit the streets for what’s known as The Blitz.
