Gun Store Burglary: Authorities said the two arrested suspects, both 16 years old, were caught in Gaithersburg, Maryland, thanks to swift interagency cooperation between Fairfax County police, Montgomery County police, the Gaithersburg Police Department and the ATF Washington Field Division.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a gun store burglary in Springfield, Virginia, while a third suspect remains at large, authorities said Monday.

Fairfax County police responded to a burglary alarm around 1:21 a.m. at Dominion Defense, located at 7200 Fullerton Rd. on Monday morning. Officers arrived to find the store’s front entrance severely damaged and multiple firearms stolen.

According to Fairfax County police, the suspects used a stolen Toyota Tacoma to ram the storefront before stealing firearms and fleeing the scene. They later switched vehicles to a stolen Hyundai Tucson before fleeing across the American Legion Bridge into Maryland...

Cops: Teens caught burglarizing Bethesda-Chevy Chase H.S. amid uptick in school break-ins

BETHESDA, Md. (ABC7) — Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged three young men for allegedly breaking into Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, the latest in a rash of school burglaries across the county.

On the night of Saturday, May 2, the security office for Montgomery County Public Schools noticed several hallway motion alarms had been triggered at the high school, which is located on East-West Highway near Downtown Bethesda.

"It's going to be a commercial burglary alarm," a female dispatcher stated over the second district radio channel around 1:15 a.m. "School security calling it in. They're getting multiple alarms. One is in the hallway stairwell by a lamp, one's in the security office — also multipurpose room, an office stairwell, and door number five... School security is en-route. They have a 10-minute ETA."..

The coalition might be the best-known parent advocacy group in the region. Its members represent several constituencies, including parents of special education and gifted education students and fiscal watchdogs. The group's defining victory came this school year when the school system scaled back the fees charged to families for course materials.

Coalition leaders have drawn attention to the misuse of funds collected from students for activities, the broadcast of a commercial radio service on school buses and, with their "Weast Watch" blog, the travel habits of Weast and his lieutenants.
