Getting Closer to You on election day!

Please hum the Carpenter's Close to You...

Voters, aren't you tired of having advocates for various campaigns and issues so FAR away from the entrance to voting locations on election day? Don't you wish that these advocates could be, say just 25 feet away from you, instead of the 100 feet they must be under current Maryland law?

Well guess what! Your legislators in Annapolis have thought about this problem and come up with a solution. Thanks to legislation proposed by Delegate Eric Luedtke a special exception will be created for Montgomery County polling locations.

Poll workers, party and union volunteers, paid lobbyists etc... will be able to be just 25 feet away from the entrance and exit of a polling place instead of the pesky 100 feet required by current Maryland law.  Montgomery County will get a special exception!  Just what you wanted!

******

(2) (I) [The] EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBPARAGRAPH (II) OF
26 THIS PARAGRAPH, THE line shall be located as near as practicable to 100 feet from the entrance and exit and shall be established after consideration of the configuration of the entrance and the effect of placement on public safety and the flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
(II) IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, THE LINE SHALL BE LOCATED AS NEAR AS PRACTICABLE TO 25 FEET FROM THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT.

  1. This couldn't possibly be interest group politics! And so it begins.

  2. People are already steamed at the huge numbers of aggressive candidates and reps at the polls. Leave us alone! this legislation should say the opposite. Who does Luedtke represent? if you are from his district, please post here and let us know that you want this intrusion as you go to vote.

  3. Delegate Eric Luedtke represents the majority of voters in Montgomery County.

He is a MCPS teacher, Apple Ballot endorsed elected official who represents the majority of voters in Montgomery County and the County teachers.

This IS what teachers and Apple Ballot voters want. They WANT to get closer to all those people working the polls on election days.

This is what the Apple Ballot is all about, working behind the scenes for you!
