MCPS just released a new memo, dated November 30, 2011, regarding children's participation in recess. Parents' Coalition first broke the story that MCPS had applied for and received awards and thousands of dollars in award money from the US Department of Agriculture by stating on applications that MCPS neither rewards nor punishes our children with recess "privileges." That was not true when MCPS applied for those awards.
Here is the memo.

Good for you, guys, for pushing this. My kids had to stay in for recess for forgetting to bring in forms. Accountability is a good thing.
ReplyDelete@ Gary - Shine some sunshine. It's a big district. Which school?
ReplyDeleteThis was a couple of years ago at Pine Crest ES, and I'm pretty sure it happened at Woodlin ES too.
ReplyDeleteWhat crap.
