Should the Superintendent of Schools be charging taxpayers for a $25.00 lunch at one of Rockville's nicest restaurants, Il Pizzico Ristorante?
While classroom teachers are spending their own money for classroom supplies, our "Equity Warrior" superintendent is lunching at a favored spot of other MCPS folks who didn't hesitate to use their taxpayer-funded American Express card to enjoy the varied selection of seafood,
meats, and home made pastas.
Above is a sample menu for the elementary age students. Hot dogs? Chicken Nuggets? Mac 'n Cheese? Forget learning how to be a computer programmer, and all that "Hour of Code" nonsense. The food is better in Education Administration.
Especially since Chuck Short works for Ike....

ReplyDeleteChuck Short has served every County Executive since the office was first established. He joined the Montgomery County government in 1973 as a Youth Coordinator and was appointed Director of the Department of Human Resources in 1983 by County Executive Charles Gilchrist. He was reappointed to this position by County Executives Kramer, Potter and Duncan. Under Duncan , he reorganized human services in Montgomery County from four separate departments into a single department of Health and Human Services. He served as Director for seven years. In 2002, he retired from County government to take a position as Secretary for Justice and Service for Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington DC. He served in this role until the Cardinal’s retirement in 2006.
Chuck joined the transition team of County Executive-elect, Ike Leggett in September 2006 and was appointed Special Assistant by County Executive Leggett in December of 2006.
Chuck serves on the Board of Directors or Board of Advisors of several non-profit organizations including St Ann’s Infant Home, The Little Sisters of the Poor Senior Home, the Ivymount School, the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless, Wells/Robertson House, Potomac Community Resources, and the Private Non-Profit Village, Inc.
Chuck has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy since 1996 and serves as a Fellow at the UMD Institute for Excellence in Government Service.
He received his AB from Georgetown University, an MA from the Catholic University of America, and is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery.
Goodness, you people are so cheap! How do you expect someone working as a Part time, Regular employee as a Special Assistant to the County Executive to be able to buy his own $25 lunch with an income of only $87,813.50 - working part time (did I say that already)?

ReplyDeleteAh, the University of Maryland. "Chuck has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy" They found a nice home for Doug Duncan too, as I recall, after he left office as the County Executive. Nothing is too good for our public officials!
