Porter, former MCPS CIO under Weast, purchase nearly $1M of PDAs on behalf of MCPS from his own company in a no-bid deal and then pocket hundreds of thousands of dollars at taxpayer expense? MCPS took no action. Porter left MCPS shortly thereafter, and with a very favorable reference from MCPS (Weast), became the Superintendent of Schools for Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. Within months at his new post, Porter resigned after accusations of criminal misconduct. Porter narrowly avoided jail time.
