The nonprofit advocacy group
Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood has been in touch with North
Attleboro parents who oppose the new approach and encouraged them to
voice objections.
Campaign manager David Monahan
believes assurances that advertising will be tasteful and appropriate
are beside the point. He said children are innundated with corporate
messaging, and there "needs to be some place where that noise stops."
"Young children don't understand
the motivation of advertising," he said. "They can't look at it
critically, so they're very vulnerable to these messages."...
