No excuses for the shockingly inappropriate behavior of the MCPD. However, multiple MCPS employees, who had responsibility for that child's care, stood by while the officers tormented, bullied, and terrorized that child -- and left the child alone with the officers after they had done so. The MCPS employees need to be held accountable for their failures and inappropriate behaviors, too. Those MCPS personnel are supposed to be professionals trained in the care and education of children.
"The MCPS employees need to be held accountable for their failures and inappropriate behaviors, too." Based on my personal experience, few years ago, it was an ingrained culture in a few cafeteria workers, teachers, counselors and administrators. They placed school status above student safety.
We all have been five-year-olds once and can recall the states of our acute senses and perception. Scarring a child for life, in the name of disciple, is an overbearing punishment indeed and a sad day in America !
