The Sentinel: Starr asks for $2.28 billion MCPS operating budget

...Starr’s recommendation represents a $56.4 million increase—about 2.5 percent—from the current budget and is about one percent above the minimum county funding floor.
Starr said the 85 percent of the increase, or $21.9 million, is for enrollment growth which has risen to 151,289 students this year and is projected to continue growing. An additional $26 million is for continuing salaries, employee benefits and keeping up with inflation.
